FMG (Farmers' Mutual Group)

During my time at FMG, I produced a broad range of design materials that supported both marketing and communication strategies. From informative risk advice collateral that empowered clients to make confident decisions, to flexible, branded email templates that ensured consistent messaging across internal and external channels, I brought clarity and cohesion to every touchpoint.

Regional risk advice guides

In 2018, I created regional risk advice guides to provide clients with essential information for assessing property risks. These guides helped clients determine the appropriate insurance coverage for their land by presenting information in a digestible and visually appealing format.

Each guide featured a relevant image representing the specific region and included tailored infographics to address regional needs. These visual elements ensured that complex information was communicated clearly, allowing clients to quickly understand the key points and make informed insurance decisions.

Social media illustrations

In 2018, I created a series of bright and simple illustrations for a Facebook campaign celebrating New Zealand farming and its animals. Designed to stand out in busy social feeds, these cheerful visuals effectively captured the essence of New Zealand’s farming heritage, engaging viewers and honoring the country’s agricultural community.

Mobile trades brochure

The mobile trades brochure, part of the "Advice Worth Listening To" campaign, aimed to deliver essential information while highlighting potential risks. I focused on clear, concise content to effectively communicate key messages, ensuring clients could easily grasp the important advice being offered.

ANZIIF Insurance Industry Awards Submission​​​​​​​

I designed FMG's submission for the ANZIIF Insurance Industry Awards, celebrating excellence in the insurance sector across New Zealand and Australia. The brief focused on clarity and conciseness, ensuring key information was prominently displayed for the judges. My aim was to highlight FMG's accomplishments while capturing attention throughout the document. I was proud to see our efforts recognized when FMG won the Direct Insurer of the Year award, showcasing the impact of a well-crafted submission.

Policy wordings

In 2017, I created policy wordings in Plain English to enhance client understanding and readability by eliminating jargon and complicated layouts. Research showed that using a single column for body text, larger headings, and ample white space improved clarity. The policy covers featured relevant monochromatic images, clear FMG branding, and a simple interior layout, all focused on client needs.

Designing these policies required meticulous attention to detail, resulting in documents that effectively simplified complex information. This project allowed me to refine my design approach, prioritising clarity and user-centric communication.

Around the block (EDM templates)​​​​​​​

The "Around the Block" email campaign for FMG’s lifestyle clients featured chapters on topics like fencing, pest control, caring for llamas and alpacas, and security measures. While these emails had a unique look compared to other FMG designs, they maintained brand consistency.

This project challenged me to create visually engaging templates that resonated with the target audience. The result was a successful campaign that delivered valuable information, helping lifestyle clients manage their properties more effectively.

Infographics

I created a series of fun and quirky infographics representing FMG's diverse insurance clients, using personas like "One Horse Wanda" (lifestyler) and "Carolyn" (car-only). Each infographic was colour-coded for easy recognition, combining playful design elements with informative content.

These infographics effectively conveyed complex data in an engaging way, making the information relatable and memorable while highlighting FMG's varied client base and their insurance needs.
